The first item on the list is the first movie in the trilogy. The Wrath of Khan was released in 1982 and follows the return of the titular villain, who appeared as a one-time baddie in the Original Series. In this, Khan lures Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise into a trap, to gain his long sought after revenge. In a film that is packed with action, suspense, revelation and a final climactic battle, the crew of the Enterprise come together to try and stop Khan, but it is the heartbreaking sacrifice of one of the main cast which really serves as the emotional ending to this film. In the two years between The Wrath of Khan and this, fans were left deeply saddened by the death of Spock in the climax of the previous film. And when the Enterprise limps back to Earth following the end of the first film, the crew are all feeling that pain as well. However, when Enterprise is to be decommissioned, and a way to revive Spock is potentially discovered, Captain Kirk leads the crew on a final mission to bring back their friend, even if it means hanging up their uniforms and losing their careers in the process. Friendship and loyalty play an essential part of this story, as the most iconic starship in the franchise is sacrificed to save one man. This is also available from us for your convenience.
