A look at Flubit now, and from the very beginning

Our Customer Experience Manager gives you the lowdown to life at flubit today. Steph has been with flubit almost exactly a year so expect it to get a little nostalgic…

On the 5th September 2011, I woke up early in the morning and after a healthy breakfast took the London tube to the flubit office in Shoreditch for the first time ever.

I arrived into the office to meet the team (at the time, fewer than 10 people), and got my own desk right opposite Bertie – the first of many desks. The week after that I was offered the job.

That was exactly a year ago this week; it feels like both yesterday and a lifetime ago. I cannot believe how far we have come from then. I can barely even recognise us as the same people I met back then.

Here we are a year later, relaunching our new platform, which is so incredibly different from the last – the only thing you might recognize is the logo. (I vividly remember the day after our initial testing when Adel came into the office to make sure we all understood what the word “PIVOT” means. I believe we took it to heart).

I remember seeing the first concepts and designs at the beginning of this year, and thediscovery process we went through to get to where we are today.
One of the most important lessons we learned is that nobody actually reads websites nowadays. Everybody does their absolute best to go through a process without registering a single word, and only reads instructions as an absolute last resort – right before exiting the site if reading three words doesn’t explain everything.

This becomes a slight complication when you’re business model is something that’s never been done before – but we went ahead and tried anyways.

We’ve simplified our proposition, cleaned up the site, created a unique interface, made everything as intuitive as possible and built a backend to ensure that we can always deliver on our promise.

We have grown as a team and we have grown as individuals, and we are now ready to give it another shot and see where it takes us. I think you’re going to love it. As much as I know that there will be tons of things to fix, modify, re-do, re-think and fix again, I think our proposition is strong and the team behind it all are magnificent.

We can’t wait to hear your reactions. Make sure to leave your email behind so that you get to experience flubit as soon as possible.

Anyways, I’ll leave my nostalgic post at that. I’m looking forward to writing another post on 5th September, 2013.
